Two weeks ago, I attended a webinar titled “AI or Your Students? You Don’t Have To Pick One”, presented by Dr. Anwar Kawtharani and organized by McGraw Hill.
The session gave me a deeper way to think about AI in education. It was not only about using AI to generate answers or speed up tasks. It was about using AI with more intention: to support better teaching, stronger learning experiences, and more thoughtful instructional design.
One idea stayed with me clearly: AI should not replace the teacher, the student, or the learning process. Its value should come from how well it supports human judgment, planning, and evidence of real learning.
The webinar also pushed me to think more carefully about areas like Bloom’s Taxonomy, Depth of Knowledge, and the importance of keeping teacher judgment central when AI is used in education.
As I continue building Apelr, this gave me a lot to reflect on. I want the platform to be more than a place where students access content. I want it to help create learning experiences that are more intentional, useful, and aligned with real understanding.
The future of education is not about choosing between AI and students.
It is about using AI in a way that serves students better.
